Ethiopian Orthodox Christians prohibited coffee, regarded as a Muslim drink, until as late as 1889 some French doctors condemned coffee as poisonous A British king banned coffee houses. More recently Coffee was on the list of World Health Organization list of possible carcinogens from 1991 to 2016. California as recently as 2018 required coffee to be labeled with a cancer warning. A recent study now says that drinking coffee actually has many health benefits. lt leads to a reduced risk of dying from chronic liver disease The research is from the Universities of Southampton and Edinburgh The research, published in the journal BMJ Open, examined the data from 26 observational studies. The research involved more than 2.25 million participants Harvard also reported evidence that coffee can help prevent type-2 diabetes, some cancers, Alzheimer’s, and even gallstones Coffee is Even being linked to a reduction in Suicidal thoughts However, British National Health System advises to avoid coffee to reduce anxiety. It seems the good old Qahwa has many good days ahead of it.
