Zelenskyy Calls for Tighter Sanctions, Appeals for Defence Equipment
ANKARA – The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that his country’s resistance against Russia will “decide the future of Europe.”
Zelenskyy mentioned that he was having meaningful communication with Western leaders. He has also called on Western nations to impose new sanctions and to boycott Russian oil and exports for the “sake of peace.”
He highlighted the urgent need for more equipment for Ukraine, specifically referring to “fighter jets and air defenses” to help in the defence against Russian invasion.
Russia’s war on Ukraine has been met with disapproval from the international community, with the European Union, UK, and US, among others taking a lead against Russia and imposing a range of economic sanctions on Moscow.
At least 364 civilians have been killed and 759 others injured in Ukraine since the Russian assault began on February 24.
