West Bank in crisis: Israeli assault kills 12 Palestinians, homes destroyed
Israeli forces killed two more Palestinians in the West Bank during a third consecutive day of military operations in the Jenin refugee camp.
The death toll has reached 12, with 40 injured, as Israel’s attacks rendered parts of the camp nearly uninhabitable.
Eyewitnesses report that Israeli soldiers have burned at least five homes in Jenin’s Al-Ghaber neighborhood.
Rights groups have accused the Israeli army of field executions, mass arrests, and infrastructure destruction.
At least 22 Palestinians have been detained since Wednesday.
Tension has been running high across the occupied West Bank due to Israel’s genocide in Gaza, where nearly 47,300 Palestinians have been killed and more than 111,400 injured since Oct. 7, 2023.
At least 873 Palestinians have since been killed and over 6,700 injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied West Bank territory, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Israel’s assault on the West Bank has been code-named “Iron Wall”.
It coincides with speculation that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched the operation to appease far-right coalition partners following the Hamas-Israel ceasefire.
