Washington Post cartoonist quits over censored Trump sketch
Veteran Washington Post cartoonist Ann Telnaes has resigned following the rejection of her provocative cartoon.
The cartoon depicted media moguls, including Post owner Jeff Bezos, appeasing President-elect Donald Trump.
On the publishing platform Substack, Telnaes criticized her editor for obstructing her duty to scrutinize the influential.
Her cartoon highlighted the concern over billionaires like Bezos currying favor with Trump for lucrative government deals.
The Association of American Editorial Cartoonists slammed the Post’s decision as “political cowardice.”
They are rallying in support of Telnaes with the hashtag #StandWithAnn.
The Washington Post has not commented on the controversy.
