Vandals target Minneapolis Muslim community center
Police are investigating multiple break-ins and vandalism at a Muslim community center in Minnesota.
Over the past two months, the site of the planned Tibyan Center mosque, which is housed in a former bank, has been repeatedly attacked by a group of young people.
It has resulted in approximately $20,000 in damage.
Executive Director of the Minnesota branch of the Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR) Jaylani Hussein reported that while the building was previously vacant and unharmed for over a year, incidents began shortly after plans for the center were announced.
Five police cases are currently open.
Hussein urged Minnesotans to denounce such behavior and support the Muslim community’s resilience.
