Uzbekistan to host international climate forum
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (MNTV) — Uzbekistan will host the first Samarkand International Climate Forum on April 4-5, bringing together world leaders, policymakers, experts, and activists to address climate challenges in Central Asia.
The event aims to strengthen regional and international cooperation on environmental sustainability and green development.
According to UZ Daily, the forum will focus on renewable energy, water resource management, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable urban development.
A major highlight will be discussions on the Aral Sea crisis, one of the world’s most severe environmental disasters, with experts exploring solutions for land restoration, desertification control, and socio-economic recovery in affected regions.
The event is expected to attract heads of state and government officials from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, alongside delegations from the European Union, the United Nations, international financial institutions, and leading environmental organizations.
A key outcome of the forum will be the presentation of a Regional Green Development Concept, outlining a unified vision for climate action and sustainable development in Central Asia.
This framework will serve as a foundation for joint efforts to combat environmental challenges and transition towards a greener future.
