Uzbekistan marks women’s week with support initiatives
Free health checkups, skill-building workshops, and cultural events celebrate and empower women
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (MNTV) — Uzbekistan is celebrating the Week of Respect for Women from March 3 to 10, rolling out nationwide initiatives to support and empower women.
The week-long program offers free medical checkups, workshops, and cultural activities aimed at promoting gender equality and social well-being.
According to business news outlet Kursive, the initiative aligns with International Women’s Day and will honor 331 women with the “Mutabar Ayol” (“Honorable Woman”) badge for their contributions to public life.
Additionally, young women registered in the Women’s Notebook—a government database of those needing social support—will receive free or discounted access to museums, theaters, cinemas, and concerts.
Medical examinations are also being provided for low-income residents in local mahallas (neighborhoods).
The program features seminars on nutrition, psychology, and maternity, along with practical workshops on sewing, cooking, and gardening.
Cities across Uzbekistan will host book presentations and social media campaigns highlighting women’s roles in society, gender respect, and motherhood.
Meanwhile, neighboring Kazakhstan will mark International Women’s Day with a three-day public holiday from March 8 to 10.
