Uzbek scientists win top award at global materials science conference
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (MNTV) — Uzbek scientists secured first place at the prestigious TMS Annual Meeting 2025, hosted by The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society in Las Vegas.
The conference brought together over 4,000 experts from leading global organizations, industries, and academic institutions specializing in aerospace and mechanical engineering, and advanced materials.
The Uzbek research team presented a groundbreaking study titled “In-Depth Analysis of the Effect of Annealing Duration at Different Temperatures on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of High-Entropy Alloys.”
Their research explored nanoscale structural changes in high-entropy alloys while maintaining their mechanical properties. This discovery is particularly significant as it enhances high-temperature resistance in advanced materials, a crucial factor for aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications.
An international jury recognized the study for its innovative approach to tackle challenges in modern materials science. The research stands out for its potential to revolutionize the development of durable, heat-resistant materials in high-tech industries.
The Uzbek team’s success underscores the country’s growing contributions to global scientific advancements. Over the past decade, Uzbekistan has made significant strides in materials science, with researchers increasingly engaging in collaborative projects with international institutions.
Leading the team was Dr. Elyorjon Jumayev, a Doctor of Technical Sciences and professor, who presented the findings at the conference. A young yet accomplished scientist, Jumayev has collaborated with renowned global organizations, including Hyundai Motors, Samsung, NASA, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He has discovered over 350 types of materials and holds more than seven international patents.
