US voids immigrants’ Social Security to force ‘self-deportation’
The Social Security Administration has started voiding Social Security numbers of thousands of immigrants with temporary legal status.
These people are being pushed toward “self-deportation.”
CBS News reports that immigrants are being wrongly listed as “deceased” under a newly renamed “ineligible master file,” disabling their Social Security numbers.
This cuts off their access to banking, government services, and other essentials, effectively making them “financially dead” in the system.
More than 6,000 immigrants, many from former President Joe Biden’s parole program, have reportedly been affected.
The White House said the move delivers on President Donald Trump’s promise of mass deportations by removing “monetary incentives” for illegal immigrants to stay.
Officials claim the first group targeted includes individuals with criminal records or alleged ties to terrorism.
However, experts warn that lawful immigrants with valid Social Security numbers could also be caught up in the process.
In March, the Social Security Administration admitted that false death reports could cause severe financial hardship and might be hard to undo.
Experts say the policy weaponizes financial systems against immigrants.
