US not ‘going to give up on reaching a cease-fire in Gaza’: State Department
The State Department has said it will not abandon efforts to achieve a cease-fire in Gaza.
Spokesman Matthew Miller said during a media briefing that a truce is the best way to free the prisoners and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians.
He emphasized that any cease-fire talks require both parties to engage.
Regarding Israeli strikes on Lebanon, Miller said the U.S wants a diplomatic resolution.
However, he reiterated that the U.S. supports Israel’s right to defend itself.
