US forces reinforce presence in northeastern Syria
AL-HASAKAH, Syria (AA) – US forces have strengthened their presence in the areas controlled by the Kurdish nationalist groups YPG/PKK in northeastern Syria.
More than 100 vehicles headed to the US military bases in Al-Hasakah province in the past three days only, sources revealed.
The vehicles came from Iraq in several convoys, comprising military vehicles and others loaded with military supplies.
The US military supplies entered from Iraq through the Al-Waleed border crossing on January 6 and 8.
In October 2019, during Türkiye’s Operation Peace Spring, US forces withdrew from the area to reinforce their presence around the oil wells in northeastern Syria.
The US forces are deployed in northeastern Syria, specifically in the provinces of Al-Hasakah, Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, which are controlled by the YPG/PKK.
