US Democrats to hold emergency meeting on Trump’s funding freeze
The House Democratic Caucus is holding an emergency meeting to discuss President Donald Trump’s decision to freeze federal spending.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said the Caucus will discuss a comprehensive three-pronged counteroffensive anchored in appropriations, litigation strategy, and communications strategies.
The move came a day after a memo from the White House budget office called for a spending freeze on federal assistance.
That could affect aid to nonprofits, universities, small business loans and state and local government grants.
Earlier, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer slammed Trump over this decision.
