US condemns Israeli use of injured Palestinian as human shield
The State Department has denounced Israeli forces for using an injured Palestinian man as a human shield in the West Bank.
Social media footage shows the man, who was wounded from a gunshot, strapped by Israeli soldiers to the hood of an armored vehicle in the city of Jenin.
State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller called the practice “absolutely unacceptable” and demanded a swift investigation by the Israeli military.
The incident occurred during a military operation in Jenin’s Jabariyat neighborhood, where the man was reportedly used to shield soldiers from potential threats.
Palestinian eyewitnesses condemned the act as another instance of Israeli oppression.
Palestinian Prisoners Club Director Abdullah al-Zagari says the silence of the international community encouraged Israel to indulge in these crimes.
At least 553 Palestinians have since been killed in the West Bank, including 133 children, and nearly 5,200 injured by Israeli army fire in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
