US blacklists three more Chinese firms over Uyghur forced labour
The US has blacklisted three additional Chinese companies for their alleged involvement in Uyghur forced labor.
This brings the total number of blacklisted firms to 68 under the 2021 Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act.
The newly blacklisted entities are Dongguan Oasis Shoes, Shandong Meijia Group, and Xinjiang Shenhuo Coal and Electricity.
These companies are accused of participating in “labor transfer programs” in the Chinese occupied Eastern Turkestan region, officially known as Xinjiang.
Under Secretary of Homeland Security Robert Silvers has emphasized the importance of American companies conducting due diligence to avoid importing goods made with forced labor.
Beijing denied the allegations, accusing the US of protectionist trade policies.
