US approves $164.6 million military sale to Israel amid Gaza war
The Biden administration has approved a $164.6 million military equipment sale to Israel, including heavy-duty tank trailers.
This move comes amid Israel’s ongoing Gaza war and violence in the West Bank.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced deliveries are expected by 2027.
Despite criticism, the U.S. remains committed to bolstering Israel’s defense, citing it as crucial to national interests.
The U.S. has also approved $20 billion in fighter jets for Israel, drawing backlash as more than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli bombings since October.
One estimate by experts in the British medical journal The Lancet estimates the death toll is approximately 186,000.
Human rights groups have called for halting arms transfers, accuse Israel of violating international laws.
Israel has been accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice.
The U.S. is the biggest supplier of arms to Israel, with more than 70% of Tel Aviv’s arms imports coming from the United States, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
