UN Migration Agency Appeals For $589M To Support Afghanistan, Neighboring Countries
The International Organization for Migration made an appeal Tuesday for more than $589 million to address the urgent humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and neighboring countries.
The U.N. agency dealing with migration needs the money to help more than 3.6 million people and strengthen communities’ resilience and recovery.
It warns of intensifying humanitarian need and increasing risk of displacement both internally and across Afghanistan’s borders to countries in the region.
More than half of the Afghan population is now in need of humanitarian assistance, which is 30% more than last year, an agency official said.
