UAE unveils Blue Visa to honor environmental leaders
Blue Visa appreciates global environmental leaders and activists while positioning UAE as global leader in environment preservation
DUBAI, UAE (MNTV) – The UAE has launched the first phase of its groundbreaking Blue Visa initiative at the World Governments Summit on Tuesday, as announced by the ministry of climate change and environment.
The Blue Visa, a 10-year residency permit, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental preservation and sustainability on both national and global levels.
In its initial phase, 20 environmental leaders and innovators will be awarded the Blue Visa.
Eligible candidates include individuals excelling in marine and land conservation, air quality improvement, and sustainable technology development.
Applicants can submit directly via the website of UAE’s federal authority for citizenship or through nominations by UAE authorities.
Dr. Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak, minister of climate change and environment, underscored the program’s alignment with the UAE’s sustainability goals.
“This initiative leverages the expertise of global leaders to achieve ambitious national objectives and build a sustainable future for the UAE and the world,” she said.
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, COP28 president and minister of industry and advanced technology, praised the Blue Visa for its transformative potential.
He noted its alignment with COP28’s legacy, the UN climate summit held in Dubai in 2023, emphasizing its role in advancing sustainable economic and social development.
The Blue Visa joins the UAE’s array of residency options, including the Golden Visa for professionals, the Green Visa for freelancers and entrepreneurs, and the Remote Working Visa for digital nomads.
These programs reflect the UAE’s commitment to fostering innovation, attracting global talent, and addressing climate challenges with forward-thinking policies.
The launch reaffirms the UAE’s leadership in sustainability and its dedication to transforming environmental challenges into opportunities for global collaboration and progress.
