Türkiye’s Ephesus opera and ballet festival returns with star-studded lineup
EPHESUS, Türkiye (MNTV) – The 8th International Ephesus Opera and Ballet Festival will showcase seven productions across nine performances at Türkiye’s ancient Ephesus Theatre from June 27 to July 13, organizers announced today.
State Opera and Ballet general director Tan Sağtürk revealed this year’s program will feature internationally acclaimed artists including ballet stars Daniil Simkin and Iana Salenko, alongside opera singer Zeljko Lucic.
The festival opens with Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, followed by six additional productions ranging from Verdi’s La Traviata to Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio.
“These festivals position Türkiye as a global arts destination,” Sağtürk told Anadolu Agency, noting the event’s growing international prestige.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has completed restoration work at the 2,000-year-old venue to enhance audience comfort while preserving its historic character.
The festival forms part of Türkiye’s cultural tourism strategy, complementing other major events like the Istanbul and Aspendos opera festivals.
Sağtürk emphasized the unique opportunity to experience world-class performances in an ancient setting, describing it as “a privilege that blends art with history.”
With productions spanning opera, ballet and children’s performances, organizers expect the festival to attract both local audiences and international visitors, further establishing Türkiye’s reputation as a crossroads of culture and arts.
