Turkiye kills 7 PKK fighters in northern Syria
ANKARA (AA) – The Turkish military killed seven PKK fighters in northern Syria, the National Defense Ministry said on Friday.
Six PKK fighters who opened “harassment fire” on the Operation Olive Branch zone in northern Syria, as well as one who was preparing to attack the Operation Peace Spring zone, were “neutralized by the successful intervention of our commandos,” the National Defense Ministry stated on Twitter.
Turkish authorities use the term “neutralize” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.
Since 2016, Ankara has launched a trio of operations across its border in northern Syria: Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018) and Peace Spring (2019).
