Trump tells Putin to avoid escalation in Ukraine
ISTANBUL (AA) – President-elect Donald Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call not to escalate the situation in Ukraine, a report said Sunday.
The call took place Thursday, The Washington Post reported, adding that Trump reminded Putin of the considerable US military presence in Europe.
The call, if confirmed, would mark the first conversation between the two men since Trump won the Nov. 5 presidential election.
The United States has been one of the most ardent supporter of Ukraine since Russia attacked it in early 2022.
