Trump strips General Milley’s security clearance
The Trump administration has revoked retired Gen. Mark Milley’s security clearance and personal security detail.
Newly appointed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the move, alongside a review to strip Milley of a retirement star.
Milley, who served as Joint Chiefs chairman from 2019 to 2023, was given protection after Iran threatened retaliation over the 2020 killing of Gen. Qasem Soleimani.
The Pentagon also removed Milley’s portrait from its building just hours after Trump was sworn in.
In his final hours, President Joe Biden issued a preemptive pardon for Milley and others fearing Trump’s retaliation.
Milley, who had clashed with Trump on security issues, expressed gratitude for Biden’s decision, saying he wished to avoid unnecessary battles in retirement.
