Lack of support from American Jews frustrates Trump
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump marked the anniversary of the Oct. 7 attacks urging Israel to “get smart about Trump” during an appearance on the Hugh Hewitt Show.
He claimed that he has done more for Israel and Jewish people than any other leader, expressing frustration over a lack of support from American Jews.
His comments come just days after he warned Jewish people in the United States that they would be held responsible if he lost the November election, sparking backlash.
Trump commemorated the day by visiting the grave of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson in New York before holding an event in Miami.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris reaffirmed their unwavering support for Israel while condemning the rise in antisemitism.
Harris also called for a cease-fire to alleviate the suffering in Gaza, where Israel’s war has killed over 41,000 Palestinians, with one estimate in the British medical journal the Lancet noting that the death toll may be as high as 186,000.
Israel has been accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice for its assault on Gaza since last October.
