Trump painting replaces Obama portrait in White House
In a break with tradition, the White House has replaced former President Barack Obama’s portrait with a new painting of President Donald Trump.
The painting shows Trump raising his fist after surviving an assassination attempt last year at a Pennsylvania rally.
It was inspired by a photo of Trump, bloodied but defiant, flanked by Secret Service agents.
The White House revealed the change in a short video posted on X, captioned: “Some new artwork at the White House.”
Traditionally, the most recent presidents’ portraits are displayed next to the East Room.
However, a former White House official said there is no strict rule — presidents can rearrange artwork.
Trump, who is known for ignoring presidential traditions, moved portraits of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush during his first term.
Obama’s portrait has now been relocated to Bush’s former spot, while Bush’s portrait was moved to a staircase.
