Trump nominates Charles Kushner, father of son-in-law Jared, for ambassador to France
ISTANBUL (AA) – President-elect Donald Trump announced Saturday that he had nominated Charles Kushner, a prominent New Jersey businessman, to serve as ambassador to France.
Kushner is the father of Jared Kushner, who is a son-in-law of Trump.
“I am pleased to nominate Charles Kushner, of New Jersey, to serve as the US Ambassador to France,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
“He is a tremendous business leader, philanthropist, & dealmaker, who will be a strong advocate representing our Country & its interests,” he added.
Kushner is the founder and chairman of Kushner Companies, a privately held real estate firm.
He has also been involved in public service, including serving on the US Holocaust Memorial Council and as chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Trump highlighted the longstanding connections between the Kushner family and his administration, noting Jared’s close work with Trump in the White House on initiatives like Operation Warp Speed to develop and distribute the coronavirus vaccine, criminal justice reform and the Abraham Accords.
“Together, we will strengthen America’s partnership with France, our oldest Ally, & one of our greatest!” Trump added.
