Trump eyes Greenland again — ‘not a joke’, says Rubio
Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Trump’s plan to buy Greenland is serious and confirmed that President Donald Trump intends to purchase it.
Speaking on SiriusXM, Rubio said the move aligns with America’s national interests.
Greenland, a self-governing territory under Danish control, remains strategically important due to its location and mineral wealth.
Rubio admitted that the topic is sensitive and should be handled diplomatically, not publicly.
He warned that open discussions could put Denmark in a tough position.
Reports say Trump and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had a tense phone call about the issue, worrying officials in the Danish capital Copenhagen.
Trump initially suggested buying Greenland in his first term, but Denmark firmly rejected it.
Now, with his return to office, concerns are growing over a renewed push.
