‘Things cannot go on as they are now’ in Gaza, says German foreign minister
DUBAI – AFP
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has said her country expected Israel to adapt its military action in order to alleviate civilian suffering and to allow more humanitarian aid.
“Things cannot go on as they are now” and “no one can remain indifferent when thousands of children are killed,” she said at a press conference on the sidelines of the COP28 climate conference in Dubai.
Her comments came with Israel’s war against people of Gaza entering the third month and with the death toll in Gaza spiralling.
The health ministry in the territory says that more than 17,100 have been killed by Israel’s military response to the October 7 attacks, in which 1,200 people were killed and 240 taken prisoners.
