Tension surrounds new Harford County mosque
A new mosque in Baltimore’s Harford County is facing hostility from some neighbors.
Although the Harford Islamic Center has quickly become a community gathering place since it opened its doors in March, some residents oppose its presence.
Mosque members have reported incidents of intimidation.
These include photographing children and vehicles, and legal disputes over its location.
This is despite county officials confirming the mosque’s compliance with local regulations and supporting its operation.
Councilman Jacob Bennett has expressed solidarity with the Muslim community, and is working with mosque leaders to address concerns.
