Groundbreaking plant-based research earns global acclaim, showcasing Tajikistan’s potential in innovation
DUSHANBE, Tajikistan (MNTV) — Omina Kholikzoda, a scientist from Tajikistan, has won a gold medal at the 15th International Invention Fair of the Middle East in Kuwait for her innovative research in plant-based medicine.
Kholikzoda, a researcher at the Ibn Sina Tajik State Medical University’s Institute of Fundamental Medicine, was honored for developing Tagetol.
This medicinal preparation, derived from the essential oil of the small-flowered tagetes—a plant native to Tajikistan—has shown hepatoprotective, choleretic, antioxidant, detoxifying, and anti-inflammatory properties.
The International Invention Fair of the Middle East, established in 1974, is a prestigious global platform for showcasing scientific advancements.
This year, it brought together researchers from 66 countries, each presenting groundbreaking innovations in various fields.
Among the five Tajik scientists who participated, Kholikzoda’s work received top recognition from the jury.
Her achievement highlights Tajikistan’s increasing contributions to global scientific research and innovation.
Her success is not only a personal milestone but also a source of pride for Tajikistan, showcasing the potential of local resources and expertise in advancing global healthcare solutions.
