Syrian ship carrying ‘stolen’ Ukrainian grain docks in Lebanon
BEIRUT (AA) – A Syrian ship carrying stolen grain from Ukraine anchored in Lebanon’s Tripoli Port, a Lebanese minister has said.
“The Ministry of Agriculture and the General Customs Office are following the developments regarding the Syrian ship, which carried stolen flour and barley of Ukraine and anchored in Tripoli Port,” Lebanese Trade Minister Amin Salam told Lebanese daily Annahar on Thursday.
The minister said the ship was sanctioned by the United States.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Beirut warned in a statement that “importing wheat and barley belonging to Ukraine and stolen by Russia will harm Lebanese-Ukrainian relations.”
Local media reported that there were 5,000 tons of flour and 5,000 tons of barley on the ship which had departed from a port in Crimea.
