Syria says Iranian advisers killed in Israeli attack south of Damascus
DAMASCUS (AA) – Several Iranian military advisers were killed in an Israeli attack south of the Syrian capital Damascus on Monday, according to Syria’s state-run news agency SANA.
SANA, citing a military source, said the Israeli attack targeted a number of sites south of Damascus.
Several Syrian civilians were also killed in the attack, SANA said, without giving an exact figure.
Tension has escalated between Iran and Israel amid the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip as well as Houthi attacks on Israel-bound ships in the Red Sea.
Relations between Tehran and Washington have also deteriorated further amid a string of attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria in recent months by groups linked to Iran.
