London, United Kingdom – AFP
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said Sunday that the world needed “calm heads to prevail” after Iran launched its first-ever direct attack on Israeli territory.
“We’ll be working with our allies to de-escalate the situation,” Sunak told reporters in Downing Street.
Sunak said UK had shot down “a number” of Iranian attack drones
Sunak said that British fighter jets had shot down Iranian attack drones during Tehran’s unprecedented missile and drone attack on Israel.
“I can confirm that our planes did shoot down a number of Iranian attack drones,” Sunak said, confirming reports that Britain had helped Israel and other allies repel the strikes.
