Spain, Ireland, Norway formally recognize Palestine as state
In a significant diplomatic development, Spain, Ireland, and Norway have formally recognized Palestinian statehood.
Ireland’s government announced its decision to recognize Palestine as a sovereign and independent state, establishing full diplomatic relations between Dublin and Ramallah.
Prime Minister Simon Harris emphasized this move is aimed at fostering hope for peace and supporting a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.
Ireland plans to appoint an ambassador to Palestine and establish an embassy in Ramallah.
Norway also confirmed its recognition, with Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide highlighting the country’s long-standing support for Palestinian statehood.
Spain has similarly formalized its recognition.
This brings the total number of countries recognizing Palestinian statehood to 144.
