Somali prime minister announces his Cabinet
MOGADISHU, Somalia (AA) – Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has announced his Cabinet members after lengthy discussions.
He announced this at a news conference held in the capital Mogadishu.
He appointed Mukhtar Robow Ali Abu Mansur — a former al-Shabaab deputy leader who had defected from the group and renounced violence — as the endowment and religious affairs minister. Abu Mansur had been under house arrest since three years. The Defense Minister Abduqadir Mohamed Nuur has retained his position.
This new Cabinet, that took new Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre nearly 40 days to form, will need the approval of the Somali parliament.
