Senegalese basketball star visits Islamic center in Dallas
Tacko Fall, talked about overcoming adversity and achieving his dreams
DALLAS, Texas – Senegalese basketball player Tacko Fall visited the Islamic Center of Dallas to read from his children’s book, which he has co-authored.
Fall, who currently plays for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association, talked about overcoming adversity and achieving his dreams.
He recounted how he was bullied as a child because of his height and how he had to work twice as hard to gain the skills he needed to play basketball at the professional level.
“I just hope that me writing a book will help someone who might not be in a good place or has dreams they aspire to accomplish. Just know that for one it’s possible and, two to not lose hope, especially young kids,” he said.
Fall also answered questions from the audience about his experiences as a Muslim athlete.
Families lined up to take photos with Fall and receive their free signed copy of the book “To New Heights”
The event was organized by the Muslim American Society (MAS) as part of its community outreach efforts.
