Saudi prince blasts Trump’s Gaza deportation plan
Former Saudi intelligence chief Prince Turki Al-Faisal has strongly condemned President Donald Trump’s proposal to forcibly remove Palestinians from Gaza.
In an open letter published in the newspaper The National, Al-Faisal rebuked Trump’s call, saying, “The Palestinian people are not illegal immigrants to be deported.”
He emphasised that Gaza’s land belongs to its people, who will rebuild their homes as they have done after past Israeli attacks.
The letter follows Trump’s controversial remarks earlier this week proposing to relocate Gaza’s residents to Egypt or Jordan and turn the war-torn region into what he called the “Riviera of the Middle East.”
Al-Faisal noted that most Palestinians in Gaza are refugees, driven out during Israel’s wars in the region in 1948 and 1967.
He said if they must leave, they should return to their homes in Haifa, Jaffa, and other Israeli-occupied areas.
Slamming illegal Israeli settlers, he accused them of seizing Palestinian lands and homes while engaging in “ethnic cleansing.”
Al-Faisal also criticised the U.S. and U.K. for supporting these evictions.
He urged Trump to honor Palestinian self-determination, as well as establish a state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Faisal noted that this is in line with U.N. resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
