Saudi authorities distribute 80,000 Zamzam water bottles daily in Madinah
JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia – The Prophet’s Mosque in the Saudi Arabian city of Madinah is supplied with up to 400 tons of Zamzam water every day during the Hajj season.
According to the official Saudi Press Agency, the holy water is filled into 10,000 containers placed around the mosque.
Another 5,000 containers have been put on standby.
Up to 80,000 bottles filled with Zamzam water are distributed daily.
Zamzam water is obtained from a well at Islam’s holiest site in Makkah.
The news agency reports that 530 employees and supervisors are involved in filling the containers.
They are placed in designated locations in the mosque, on the roof, and in the courtyard.
Seven places in the mosque are designated for filling containers, and three areas are used for cooling disposable water bottles from Zamzam.
According to the Saudi News Agency, this is the first time that the Prophet’s Mosque has received such a large amount of Zamzam water during the Hajj season.
The increase in supply is in line with the growing number of pilgrims visiting the mosque each year.
