Saudi Arabia’s debut opera ‘Zarqa al Yamama’
Saudi Arabia’s first-ever opera, “Zarqa Al Yamama,” concluded marking a historic milestone in the country’s cultural scene.
The performance was held at the King Fahd Cultural Center in the capital Riyadh.
Government bodies like the Saudi Theater and Performing Arts Commission issued statement of praise for it.
Local newspapers, mostly controlled by the government, also lauded the opera’s portrayal of Arab heritage with an international twist.
Most citizens who are critical of Saudi entry into the entertainment scene are silenced by the government.
