Saudi Arabia strengthens film industry presence at Berlin Festival
Long seen as ‘oil-rich’ Kingdom, Saudi Arabia is now moving towards arts, sports, and entertainment
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) – In a key move to expand its influence in the global film sector, the Saudi Film Commission is participating in the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, running from February 13 to 23.
A delegation from the Film Commission, accompanied by Saudi filmmakers, is attending the event, which is renowned for its prestigious Golden Bear awards.
The commission will host a dedicated Saudi pavilion to showcase its strategic vision of becoming a global hub for filmmakers, while partnering with key industry figures.
In addition to the pavilion, the Saudi delegation will organize a roundtable discussion titled “Will 2025 be the Year of Independent Films at the Global Box Office?”
The session will bring together industry leaders to explore the challenges and opportunities facing the film sector.
The Kingdom’s participation is a vital part of its broader push to foster cultural exchange, empower emerging Saudi filmmakers, and nurture homegrown talent.
Established in 1951, the Berlin International Film Festival is one of Europe’s most prominent cinematic events, showcasing a diverse range of films, including documentaries, experimental works, and feature films.
