Saudi Arabia brokers Russia-Ukraine prisoner swap
RIYADH (AA) – Saudi Arabia has said it has brokered a prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday 10 prisoners were released following successful mediation efforts by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The released prisoners included five British citizens, one Moroccan, one Swedish, one Croatian, and two Americans.
The statement, however, did not provide any further details about the swap.
Russia says its war on Ukraine, which began in February, aims to “demilitarize” and “denazify” Ukraine, prompting Western countries to impose severe sanctions in response.
