Sanders to attend ‘Progressive Central 2024’
Senator Bernie Sanders is set to attend “Progressive Central 2024,” scheduled just before the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
The two-day gathering, organized by Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and several key allies, will feature top progressives including Pramila Jayapal and Nina Turner.
Set for Aug. 18 and 19 at the Chicago Teachers Union building, the event aims to showcase a practical, forward-looking agenda addressing core concerns of American households.
PDA’s Alan Minsky has emphasized the event’s focus on presenting a united, realistic vision for progressive politics, countering media portrayals of progressives as fringe.
Influential speakers and leaders will rally for a shared progressive vision.
The event seeks to energize the movement and highlight its broad appeal as November’s election approaches.
Sanders remains an independent lawmaker representing Vermont in the US Senate. But he caucuses with the Democrats and has been one of the Biden administration’s key supporters on a number of issues.
Sanders stood by Biden’s 2024 campaign even as it struggled.
He has repeatedly pressured Joe Biden to change course on his support for Israel’s relentless war on Gaza that has killed approximately 40,000 Palestinians, most of them children and women.
