Sanders rallies 10,000 in Michigan against oligarchy
More than 10,000 people gathered in Warren, Michigan, to hear Senator Bernie Sanders speak against what he calls a growing “oligarchy.”
He aims to pressure Republican lawmakers to oppose cuts to social programs while fighting tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy.
Overflow crowds gathered at Lincoln High School, with hundreds turned away.
Sanders accused the Trump administration of leading the country toward authoritarianism and a government controlled by billionaires.
He criticized tech giants like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg, saying they symbolize the shift from a government “for the people” to one “for the billionaire class.”
He also condemned President Donald Trump’s election claims, calling them a “Big Lie” that creates a “parallel universe with no basis in reality.”
Sanders urged people to stand up against oppression and injustice.
United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain joined Sanders on stage, wearing a shirt reading “Eat the Rich,” declaring “billionaires don’t have a right to exist.”
Sanders’ tour also drew massive crowds in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
