Rohingya Muslims risk losing homeland amid escalating violence
Rohingya rights activist Nay San Lwin has warned that Rohingya Muslims risk losing their homeland if the international community fails to intervene.
With 600,000 Rohingya remaining in Burma’s Rakhine State, Lwin highlighted ongoing atrocities.
These include forced displacements and killings by the Burmese army, as well as the rebel outfit Arakan Army.
He notes more than 10,000 people have fled to neighboring Bangladesh in the last week alone.
Lwin stressed the need for international action, including a U.N. Security Council resolution to prevent further violence and displacement.
Without intervention, the situation could worsen, forcing hundreds of thousands more to flee.
Lwin is urging Bangladesh to rally global support for repatriation efforts, warning if no action is taken, the Rohingya might permanently lose their homeland.
