Muslims across Portugal prepare for the holy month with fasting and charitable acts
Lisbon, Portugal (MNTV) – Muslims across Portugal are preparing to observe Ramadan, a sacred month of fasting, reflection, and good deeds.
This year, the holy month is expected to conclude with Eid al-Fitr on March 30, 2025.
At the Central Mosque of Lisbon, over 2,000 meals will be distributed daily at sunset to help worshippers break their fast, reports The Portugal News.
Samir Aboobaker of the Islamic Community of Lisbon shared details of the mosque’s plans, which include Quran recitations, religious lectures, and educational classes.
Additionally, the mosque will distribute clothing to those in need as part of its charitable initiatives.
In Portugal, the Muslim population exceeds 50,000, with Sunnis accounting for 80–90% of believers.
This growing community plays an active role in upholding the spirit of Ramadan by engaging in acts of worship, community service, and family gatherings to mark this special month.
