Rains claim 100 lives in Pakistan in one month
KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) – Rains have claimed more than 100 lives in Pakistan for the past month.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDM), 13 people were killed by the renewed monsoon rains on Sunday.
Authorities said nine people were killed by landslides and collapsed roofs.
Most of the deaths were reported in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where torrential rains and flash floods washed away houses, roads and bridges.
Massive rains also battered parts of northeastern Punjab, southwestern Balochistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
The rains paralyzed road traffic, caused power outages and caused rivers and streams to burst their banks.
