Rachel Corrie’s parents call for justice, holding Israel accountable for killing American citizen
The parents of Rachel Corrie have expressed their grief following the death of Turkish American activist Ayşenur Eygi last week, who was shot by Israel during a demonstration near Nablus.
Cindy and Craig Corrie say Eygi’s death brings back painful memories of their daughter’s tragic loss.
Rachel Corrie was a 23-year-old American activist killed by an Israeli military bulldozer in Gaza in 2003 as she attempted to use her body to stop the destruction of Palestinian homes.
In an emotional interview on Democracy Now, the Corries criticized the lack of accountability, calling Eygi’s killing a reflection of Israel’s ongoing failure to conduct transparent investigations into such incidents.
They echoed Eygi’s family’s calls for an independent probe, saying that Israel’s pattern is to “cover-up” instead of investigating.
The couple urged the U.S. government to enforce consequences for these actions and called for international involvement to ensure justice
The Corries also shared their fight for justice for their daughter and the U.S. government’s attitude of closing its eyes to Israeli actions.
Cindy and Craig Corrie have devoted their lives to their daughter’s cause and founded the nonprofit Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice.
