CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) – The 56th Cairo International Book Fair commenced on Thursday at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo, running until February 5.
This year’s fair, themed “Read… In the beginning was the Word,” features 1,345 publishing houses from 80 countries, with the Sultanate of Oman as the guest of honor.
According to Qatar Tribune, Qatar has made a significant impact with its largest-ever participation in the event’s history.
The Qatari presence includes pavilions from the Ministry of Culture, the International Quran Contemplation Organization, the Qatar Police Academy, and prominent publishing houses such as Dar Al Watad, Dar Rosa, and Katara.
On the opening day, Egyptian Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano visited Qatar’s Ministry of Culture pavilion.
Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, Director of the Doha International Book Fair, highlighted Qatar’s cultural and intellectual advancements and emphasized the role of such participation in strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Qatar.
The Qatari pavilion features interactive screens showcasing traditional crafts, offering visitors an immersive experience into Qatar’s rich heritage.
Al Buainain also expressed gratitude for Qatar’s selection as the guest of honor for the 58th Cairo International Book Fair, scheduled for 2027.
