Qatar leading Arab world in trauma care treatment
With state-of-the-art technology and vision to excel in health facilities, Qatar has revolutionized health system, and continues to do so
DOHA, Qatar (MNTV) – Qatar is at the forefront of trauma care in the Arab world, with the Qatar National Trauma Registry serving as a pioneering initiative to enhance emergency response and injury prevention.
Established in 2017 by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), it remains the first and only national trauma database in the region, playing a vital role in advancing medical care and saving lives.
The registry collects comprehensive data on injuries, including their causes, patient demographics, treatments, and outcomes. This evidence-based approach allows medical teams to identify trends, improve treatment protocols, and reduce preventable deaths.
A key focus has been on addressing major trauma causes in Qatar, such as road traffic accidents and workplace injuries.
Insights from the registry have contributed to developing prevention programs and refining emergency response strategies, reinforcing Qatar’s leadership in trauma care.
With continuous investment in cutting-edge medical research and data-driven healthcare, Qatar is setting a benchmark for trauma care in the region, strengthening its position as a leader in emergency medicine and injury prevention across the Arab world.
Dr. Hassan Al Thani, Head of Trauma and Vascular Services at Hamad Medical Corporation, emphasized the registry’s significance.
“The Qatar National Trauma Registry allows us to track injuries and improve the way we care for patients. It has helped us save lives and set a standard for trauma care in the region,” he said.
He further noted that analyzing the registry’s data enhances care quality from emergency response through to long-term recovery while ensuring efficient use of healthcare resources, such as hospital beds and intensive care units.
The data collected through the registry serves as a foundation for crucial research on topics including road traffic collisions, occupational injuries, and pediatric trauma.
Findings from this research contribute to scientific publications, conference presentations, and training initiatives for healthcare professionals.
Moreover, the registry is integral to supporting HMC’s international accreditations, including the American College of Surgeons’ Trauma Quality Program and Accreditation Canada International’s Level 1 Trauma Center designation.
The Qatar National Trauma Registry highlights the power of data-driven healthcare systems and has positioned Qatar as a leader in trauma care in the Arab world, setting a benchmark for regional healthcare excellence.
