Qatar launches inaugural fishing exhibition to celebrate maritime heritage
DOHA, Qatar (MNTV) – Qatar will organize its first-ever Fishing Exhibition at Old Doha Port from April 9 to 12, spotlighting Qatar’s rich fishing traditions alongside modern advancements in the regional fishing industry.
The event will feature a dynamic lineup of activities, including live demonstrations by artisans skilled in traditional craft such as net-making and rope-weaving, according to Qatar Tribune.
A folk maritime band will perform throughout the exhibition, enhancing the cultural ambiance, while interactive workshops and storytelling sessions will engage visitors, particularly children, in Qatar’s maritime history.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Mulla, CEO of Old Doha Port, emphasizes the exhibition’s dual role in preserving heritage and boosting marine tourism.
“This event not only cements Old Doha Port’s status as a premier maritime destination but also aligns with our strategy to promote watersports and marine tourism in Qatar,” he says.
“Beyond showcasing the fishing industry, this is a celebration of community, craftsmanship, and culture—marking the beginning of the fishing season. It bridges Qatar’s past and future while supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs,” Al Mulla adds.
Held at Mina Park, south of Mina District, the exhibition will host 30 stands featuring fishing gear, equipment, and innovations from local and regional vendors.
