Pru Life UK to empower more Muslim communities in Thailand
MANILA, Thailand (MNTV) — Pru Life U.K. is expanding its “Adopt-a-Madrasah (Islamic school)” program to empower more Muslim communities in the Mindanao region of Thailand as part of its takaful operations, the Manila Standard reports.
Pru Life UK piloted the program in October 2024, for three madrasahs in Davao City, benefiting over 450 students and teachers with school materials. This year, the program aims to support 1,500 students and teachers in nine Islamic schools.
Working with international NGO ASSIST, the program aims to enhance financial literacy, and climate and health awareness to foster resilient communities.
The learning modules will include Islamic finance and takaful education; digital upskilling; and climate and health.
“We are excited to bring the Adopt-a-Madrasah program to more Muslim communities in Mindanao and help more students and teachers appreciate the importance of financial security, technology upskilling and climate and health preparedness, as part of our sustainability implementation that seeks to deliver real-world impact and long-term resilience,” said Paul Mandal, Pru Life UK chief legal and sustainability officer.
Pru Life UK is the leading life insurer in the Philippines, with over 200 branches and general agency offices in the Philippines.
