Protesters wave Palestinian flag atop Columbia’s Hamilton Hall as police arrested them
A protester at Columbia University waved a Palestinian flag atop Hamilton Hall, drawing cheers from the crowd of demonstrators below.
Hamilton Hall is known for its role in the 1968 anti-Vietnam War student protests.
The university said the student faces expulsion.
Protester Ezra Lewis expressed disbelief at the university’s response, fearing reprisals for speaking out against their arrest and suspension.
Lewis, an honor student and president of Zeta Phi Beta sorority, criticized the university for leveraging the student’s image for diversity while punishing their activism.
Meanwhile, an anonymous student has filed a lawsuit against Columbia University, alleging the school’s failure to ensure a safe learning environment amid the Free Palestine Movement on campus.
